Medicare Advantage is one coverage option available to you, also known as Part C. This plans are “all in one” plans offered by insurance companies. When enrolling into a Medicare Advantage here are a few considerations to look at.
Costs
Premiums for each plan can vary.
Provider Networks
Is my doctor covered? What about my specialist? Is this plan an HMO, PPO?
Prescription Drug coverage
Some Medicare Advantage plans include Part D Prescription Drug Coverage, and it is different from plan to plan. Which generic and/or brand drugs are covered? What is the copay?
Additional Benefits
What additional benefits does this plan provide? Vision, Dental, Wellness programs, and more…
Medicare Supplement
Medicare Supplement or Medigap plans help pay for some of the cost that are not covered by Original Medicare.
Costs
Premiums vary depending on the plan but it is higher than Medicare Advantage.
Provider Networks
The best part of a Medicare Supplement is that it is accepted by almost 95% of doctors in US and there are not medical networks.
Prescription Drug coverage
There is NO prescription coverages available. If you need Prescription Drug Coverage, you have to buy a Stand Alone Prescription Drug Coverage for an additional monthly premium.
Additional benefits
There are NO additional benefits like Dental or Vision. This benefits have to be bought for an additional monthly premium. Some plans offer discounts or gym memberships but not close to what Medicare Advantage offers.
